Meet C-Biscuit: An Interview with Danville’s newest local celebrity

DSC_0379.JPG

Roborio: Hello robot lovers of the world!  I’m Roborio with the Ragin’ News Network coming at you live with another interview.  Today’s is with Danville’s newest Celebrity, C-Biscuit! How are you doing today, C-Biscuit?

C-Biscuit: Hi Roborio! I’m doing great! Thank you so much for having me!

Roborio: It's always a pleasure! So C-Biscuit, why did you join Team 1280?

C-Biscuit: Well I had always been interested in STEM, but because of Team 1280's ExtenSTEM initiative and their welcoming recruiting methods I became interested in FIRST and was empowered to join the team!

Roborio: Thant's great! What is your favorite thing about Team 1280?

C-Biscuit: Well Roborio Team 1280 is like no other team out there.

It has a welcoming atmosphere.  It is student-run but mentor-guided and almost all of the parts of the team are run by the student leadership! My kids are the sweetest, most hardworking, passionate, and dedicated kids you’ll ever meet! They are incredibly smart and are always excited to share their knowledge of FIRST with our community!

Roborio: How do you prepare for a regional?

C-Biscuit: I just think about how hard my team has worked all season and listen to "Steam Powered" by Professor Elemental" to get pumped up for my matches!

Roborio: "Steam Powered" if definitely a great song.

What’s your favorite part about FIRST?

C-Biscuit: My favorite part about FIRST is how it is able to bring people together and encourages STEM in a way that many people can enjoy.  FIRST is even so influential that I have seen the timidest kids break out of their shell and show who they really are.

Roborio: That is really insightful! What’s are your favorite colors?

C-Biscuit: Black and Gold of course!

Roborio: What’s your favorite food?

C-Biscuit: Biscuits…  Specifically Ginger Biscuits

Roborio: Well, unfortunately, that's all we have time for! Tune in next time to learn more about C-Biscuit! Roborio signing off.

C-Biscuit's Biscuit Recipe!

Ingredients
110g/4oz margarine, plus extra for greasing
110g/4oz caster sugar
110g/4oz golden syrup (or honey,
mollasses, or maple syrup)
225g/8oz self-raising flour, plus extra for dusting
2 tsp ground ginger

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180C/350F/Gas 4 and grease a baking tray.

  2. Melt the margarine, caster sugar and golden syrup gently in a pan over a medium heat. Once melted, remove from the heat and cool slightly. Add all of the dry ingredients to the pan to make a dough.

  3. Once cool enough to handle, with floured hands, roll the dough into 50p-size balls.

  4. Place these individual balls onto the greased baking tray with enough room between each biscuit to allow them to spread during cooking. Mark the top of each ball with a fork. The dough should make about 30 biscuits.

  5. Put the baking tray into the oven for about 10 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden-brown.

  6. Remove from the oven, leave to cool slightly and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
